NC State Alumni Joins Stingers

 The Edmonton Stingers of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) announced Thursday the signing of 6’6” guardTorin Dorn to their 2025 roster.  A graduate of NC State, the Charlotte native has played three professional seasons overseas in the Czech Republic and Poland.


“I’m just grateful for the opportunity to play for a great organization and help my teammates in whatever way I can, exited to get to work and compete," said Dorn.


This past season playing for BK Lions Jindrichuv Hradec of the top Czech league the NBL, Dorn scored a team-high 17.7 points per game, including a season best 27 points on March 8th of this year. It was his second season leading the club in scoring, as he averaged 21.7 points per game in 2023-2024 with the Lions. His standout season was highlighted by a streak of 7 straight games scoring 20 or more points. His first pro season was with WSK Slask Wroclaw in the top Polish league, where he averaged 11.5 points per game across 21 contests.


Dorn was a standout player at NC State before turning pro, scoring 14 points and grabbing 7.0 rebounds per game as a senior in 2018-2019. With the Wolfpack, he set a collegiate career high with 38 points against Lipscomb in March 2019, and grabbed a season high 12 boards in February of the same year against Syracuse. Across his junior and sophomore seasons, he averaged 11.7 points per game in 65 games, starting 50 of them. He spent his freshman season with the University of North Carolina at Charlotte 49ers, scoring 12.0 points per game in 32 games.


Dorn is expected to join the team for their third game of the season this Thursday in Saskatchewan. The Stingers have dropped two close games to Western Conference rivals Winnipeg and Calgary to start their season.
