Professional Career:

 

2021:

In 12 games with Halcones UV Xalapa in Mexico’s LNBP, McKinney averaged 15.8 points, 3.6 rebounds, 4.9 assists, and 1.1 steals per game on .489 and .452 shooting from two-point and three-point range, respectively … On Sept. 25, 2021, McKinney scored a season-high and team-best 28 points, adding two rebounds and eight assists in a 90-87 loss against Lenadores. (Statistics are as of Nov. 26, 2021.)

 

2019-20:

In his second season with Macau, McKinney averaged 24.7 points, 5.4 rebounds, 7.4 assists and 1.7 steals per game over 14 games for the Black Bears in the ASEAN Basketball League … McKinney averaged 34.7 minutes per game and his best performance of the season came on Jan 9, 2020, in a 97-87 win over the WM Dragons … scored a season-high and team-best 34 points to go with six rebounds and eight assists.

 

2018-19:

Over 28 games with the ASEAN Basketball League’s Macau Black Bears, McKinney averaged 26.8 points, 5.8 rebounds, 6.9 assists and two steals per game on .564 and .402 shooting from two-point and three-point range, respectively … On March 8, 2019, McKinney scored a season-high and team-best 50 points, nine rebounds and seven assists in a 101-97 loss against the San Miguel Beermen.

 

2017-18:

In 17 games with Chongson in the ASEAN Basketball League, McKinney averaged 22.4 points, 5.2 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 2.1 steals per game on .546 and .406 shooting from two-point and three-point range, respectively … McKinney also averaged 37 minutes per game over the course of 17 games … On April 11, 2018 in a semifinal matchup against Mono Vampire, McKinney tied a season-high with a team-best 32 points while adding four rebounds and four assists in a 103-94 loss … McKinney was later named 2018 ABL Heritage Import most valuable player.

 

 

 

 

2016-17:

Through 31 NBA D-League games with the Delaware 87ers, McKinney averaged 5.4 points, 1.8 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game on .458 and .268 shooting from two-point and three-point range, respectively … McKinney averaged 18.8 minutes per game … Scored a season-high 14 points, two rebounds and four assists on Jan. 20, 2017, in a 115-111 win over Greensboro.

 

2015-16:

Suited up for 29 games with the Antwerp Giants in the BNXT, Belgium’s highest level of professional basketball … McKinney averaged 7.6 points, 1.5 rebounds, two assists and 0.9 steals per game on .457 and .413 shooting from two-point and three-point range, respectively … Averaged 20 minutes per game on the season … On April 13, 2016, against Okapi Aalstar, McKinney scored a season-high 19 points, adding seven assists and playing a team-high 32 minutes.

 

The Antwerp Giants also participated in the FIBA Europe Cup … McKinney averaged 8.2 points, 1.8 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game on .534 and .317 shooting from two-point and three-point range, respectively.

Overall at Sacramento State:

Despite playing just three years with the program, McKinney ranks fourth in Sacramento State history in career points (1,468)…in fact, he is the program’s all-time leader in points among players that were not in the program for four years…he ranks among Sacramento State’s career top 10 in 14 different categories, including second in games started (91), minutes per game (34.1) and total minutes (3,105), third in free throws made (320), fourth in field goals made (508), steals (149) and free throws attempted (395), fifth in assists (369), sixth in field goals attempted (1,082), eighth in steals per game (1.6) and 3-point percentage (.389), and 10th in both 3-pointers made (132) and assists per game (4.1)…started all 91 games he played in a Sacramento State uniform.

 

2014-15:

Completed arguably the greatest season in program history (1948-pres.)…did not play in the season opener, but started the remaining 32 games…an Associated Press honorable mention All-American, Big Sky Conference Player of the Year, a finalist for the Lou Henson Mid-Major Player of the Year award, first team all-District 6, unanimous first team all-Big Sky, all-Big Sky Tournament and a four-time Big Sky Player of the Week selection…also became the first player in school history to play in the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament in Virginia, and first to play in the Reese’s College All-Star Game in Indianapolis…became the first player in the program’s Div. I era (1991-pres.) to be named All-American, conference player of the year and first team all-district…joined Alex Williams (second team Div. II All-American in 1988) and Lynn Livie (honorable mention Div. II All-American in 1965) as the only three Hornet men’s basketball players to receive All-America accolades since the University began playing basketball in 1948…became Sacramento State’s first conference MVP since 1977, and first Hornet in school history to be named unanimous first team all-Big Sky in back-to-back years…a team co-captain, he finished the season averaging 19.2 points, 4.9 assists, 2.8 rebounds, 2.4 steals, a +2.3 assist-to-turnover ratio and 37.0 minutes per game while shooting .507 (219-432) from the field, .430 (65-151) from the 3-point line and .803 (110-137) from the free throw line…the scoring average was the top single-season mark in the program’s Div. I era…ranked among the nation’s top 60 players in nine different categories, including seventh in steals per game, eighth in total steals, 24th in field goals made and minutes per game, 28th in points per game, 34th in total points (613), 47th in assists per game, 54th in total assists (156), and 60th in assist-to-turnover ratio…the field goal percentage of .507 was the sixth best mark in the nation among guards…in Big Sky play, he averaged 19.7 points, 5.2 assists, 2.3 rebounds, 2.2 steals, a +2.3 assist-to-turnover ratio and 37.9 minutes per game while shooting .502 (123-245) from the field, .451 (41-91) from the 3-point line and .753 (67-89) from the free throw line…scored at least 15 points during each of the final 16 games of the season, and had at least nine points in all 32 games he played…hit the game winner with 2.6 seconds left to deliver a 63-61 road win at North Dakota…scored 27 of his career-high 33 points in the second half to lead the Hornets to a 78-71 road win at Weber State…scored 27 of his 32 points in the second half to lead the Hornets to a comeback 79-76 home win over Idaho…had 32 points, seven rebounds, eight assists and a career-high seven steals while shooting 13-of-21 from the field at home vs. Portland…shot at least 40 percent from the field in all but four games, and at least 50 percent in 18 of his 32 games played…led the Hornets in scoring 21 times, and paced the team in assists on 22 occasions.

 

2013-14:

Became the first player in Sacramento State history to be named unanimously to the Big Sky Conference’s first team…also became the first player in the program’s Div. I era (1991-pres.) to be named all-district when he was selected second team all-District 6 by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC)…named the Sacramento State Male Student-Athlete of the Year…a team co-captain, he averaged 16.6 points, 3.8 rebounds, 4.6 assists, 1.2 steals and 34.6 minutes per game…shot .482 (173-359) from the field, .345 (38-110) from the 3-point line and .820 (114-139) from the free throw line…started all 30 games, and scored in double figures in 26 of those 30 contests…led the team in scoring in 19 games while posting at least 21 points on eight occasions…also led the team in assists 20 times…scored in double figures in each of the final 14 games of the season, and averaged 20.2 points, 4.8 rebounds and 6.0 assists on .513 shooting from the field and .447 from the 3-point line over that 14-game span…in Big Sky play, he led the Hornets in points (17.0 ppg), rebounds (4.3 rpg), assists (5.1 apg), assist-to-turnover ratio (+2.4) and steals (1.3 spg)…a two-time Big Sky Player of the Week award winner (Feb. 3, Feb. 24), becoming just the fifth player in school history to receive the Big Sky weekly honor twice in one season…among conference leaders (in league play), he ranked first in both assists and assist-to-turnover ratio, and fifth in scoring and minutes played (35.8 per game)…had 30 points vs. Weber State, 29 vs. Northern Colorado and 28 vs. Idaho State…had 24 points in the Hornets’ Big Sky Tournament quarterfinal game…had at least four assists in 14 of the season’s final 15 games, including a season-high 11 assists in a win at Portland State…of the Hornets’ top eight scoring marks during the season, he produced six of those efforts…had two double-doubles: 29 points and 11 rebounds at home vs. Northern Colorado, and 18 points and 11 assists on the road at Portland State…drew 10 charges, and shot .857 (38-for-45) from the free throw line during the final five minutes of games.

 

2012-13:

One of two Hornets to start all 29 games…in his first season at the Div. I level, he averaged 12.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.2 steals and 30.5 minutes per game…shot .399 (116-291) from the field, .372 (29-78) from the three-point line and .807 (96-119) from the free throw line…led the team in free throws made, free throws attempted and steals, and was the team’s second leading scorer…against conference teams, he averaged a team-high 12.3 points per game…scored in double figures 19 times, and led the team in scoring on seven occasions…that included a 30-point performance in a home win over Portland State where he shot 13-of-18 from the field, 2-of-3 from the three-point line and 2-of-2 from the free throw line…the 30 points were the most scored by a Sacramento State player since 2009…the Hornets were 4-0 when he scored at least 20 points, and 7-2 when he attempted at least five free throws…had 20-plus point games in home wins over CSU Bakersfield (23), Montana State (21) and Northern Colorado (26)…in home games, he averaged 14.8 points on .472 shooting from the field and .429 from the three-point line…among conference leaders (overall), he ranked ninth in free throw percentage, 14th in assists and steals, and 15th in scoring and three-point percentage.

 

2011-12:

As a freshman in 2011-12, he was a first team all-state and first team all-Coast Conference selection after averaging 14.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.0 steals per game while shooting 53.0 percent (123-232) from the field, 40.9 percent (18-44) from the three-point line and 80.0 percent (100-125) from free throw line…averaged nearly five free throw attempts per game, and led Ohlone in points, field goals, free throws made and attempted, assists and steals…the team finished the year with a 15-12 overall record and an 8-4 mark in the Coast League (North Division).

 

2010-11:

Redshirted in 2010-11 in his first year at Fremont’s Ohlone college.

A 2010 graduate of Washington High School in Fremont, Calif…during his senior season at Washington, he was a first team all-Mission Valley Athletic League selection…helped lead the Huskies to a 19-10 record after finishing with season averages of 21.9 points, 8.1 rebounds, 5.6 assists and 2.8 steals per game while shooting 56.0 percent (121-216) from the field, 40.8 percent (20-49) from the three-point line and 79.3 percent (73-92) from the free throw line…spent his sophomore season playing varsity ball for Moreau Catholic High School in Hayward, Calif.
