COACHING LINEUP

  • JORDAN BAKER

    Jordan Baker is a cornerstone of Edmonton basketball. A standout with the Alberta Golden Bears basketball, he graduated as the program’s all-time leader in points, rebounds, assists, and steals. Baker joined the Stingers in 2019 as part of their inaugural roster, winning two Canadian Elite Basketball League championships and earning Canadian Player of the Year honours in 2020. He retired in 2022 as the franchise’s all-time leader in points and rebounds, both records he still holds.


    Baker began his coaching career with the Stingers in 2023 and added the General Manager title in 2024, helping shape both the team’s roster and culture. In 2025, he was named President of the organization while continuing to lead on the basketball side. His impact on the sport was further recognized with his induction into the University of Alberta Sports Wall of Fame in 2025.

  • ADIKA PETER-MCNEILLY

    Adika Peter-McNeilly played university basketball at Toronto Metropolitan University from 2013 to 2017, where he helped lead the Rams to back-to-back OUA championships (2015, 2016), two U Sports bronze medals (2015, 2016), and a silver medal at the 2017 national Final 8 Championship. A 2017 U Sports First Team All-Canadian, he also represented Canada at the 2015 FISU Games in Gwangju, South Korea.


    Following his university career, Adika spent seven seasons playing professionally across Europe and Canada, competing in Spain, Germany, Romania, and France. He earned a Basketball Champions League medal in 2018 with MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg and went on to become a two-time CEBL champion (2020, 2021) with the Edmonton Stingers, where he was named Sixth Man of the Year in 2021 and ranks second all-time in points and first in games played. 


    Adika is now entering his second season as Head Coach of the NAIT Ooks Men’s Basketball Team and also serves as an Assistant Coach with the Edmonton Stingers.





  • GEORGE HOYT

    George has coached from community level mini's all the way to professional level in multiple roles from assistant to head coach. He has beeen with the Edmonton stingers from day 1. George has received numerous coaching awards and was inducted to the ASAA hall of fame as a coach in 2024.

  • KIERA LYONS

    Kiera Lyons is entering her fourth season as Head Coach of the NAIT Ooks women’s basketball program. She was an assistant coach with the Edmonton Stingers during their 2021 championship season and is a former Canada West Champion with the University of Saskatchewan Huskies in 2014. 

  • BRAD FARISH

    Coach Brad Farish brings over 10 years of coaching experience across high school, club, provincial, and professional basketball. He currently serves as Head Coach at St. Francis Xavier High School, Boys Program Director at West Elite Basketball Association (WEBA), and an Assistant Coach with the Edmonton Stingers of the CEBL. Coach Brad has also worked with Team Alberta’s U17 Boys program for two seasons, helping guide some of the province’s top athletes.

    His coaching career includes notable success, including two Metro Division 1 Senior Boys championships, a 4A Boys Provincial title, and most recently, a 2025 Basketball National Championship at the Canada Summer Games in St. John’s. Holding an Education Degree and Train to Compete (2TC) certification, Coach Brad is recognized for his commitment to player development and team culture. Known for his emphasis on defense, he is excited to share his beliefs on the importance of accountability, toughness, and a strong culture when building a successful team defence.

  • DAVID KAPINGA

    David Kap is the Head Coach of the MacEwan University Men’s Basketball Program. A former U SPORTS National Champion and tournament MVP, David has also represented Canada on the international stage as a two-time member of Team Canada.


    His coaching journey includes leading roles with Olds College, Team Alberta, and Edge Prep, where he has developed a reputation for building programs and elevating player performance. Known for his ability to teach decision-making and skill development, David combines his playing experience at the highest levels with a modern coaching approach. Passionate about advancing Canadian basketball, David continues to mentor athletes at the university and provincial levels while fostering a culture of accountability, growth, and competitiveness.


  • SUNNY SOOCH

    Founder of GOOD Hoops (Grassroots Club Program) and Western Canada Prep Academy both based in Edmonton, AB -- both programs have combined to move over 200+ athletes onto university athletics over the last 10 years ranging across all levels (NCAA, USports, JUCO, NAIA, CCAA). Sunny is currently the Head Coach of the WCPA National Team that is a Top 10 nationally ranked program in Canada at the prep level.


    Sunny has international camp clinician experience in Belgium, Thailand and the United Kingdom. He also holds his Masters of Sport Management from UAB Barcelona and was an athlete at MacEwan University under Coach Eric Magdan

  • DENZEL JAMES

    Denzel Williamson-James, born and raised in Edmonton, AB, has been deeply involved in basketball for most of his life. He played university basketball at MacEwan University, where he became the program’s all-time leading scorer and was part of the team’s transition from the ACAC to the U SPORTS level. After five years at MacEwan, he moved to Ontario to play professionally, competing overseas in Spain and later taking part in the inaugural season of the CEBL.


    Following his playing career, Denzel joined the Edmonton Stingers’ coaching staff under Jordan Baker’s leadership for one season. He is also the founder of Youth Hoops Basketball Academy, a non-profit organization that serves over 200 young athletes each year. The program focuses on teaching fundamental basketball and life skills while fostering community and building lasting connections beyond the court.

  • SCOTT GILROY

    Scott is the CEO of The Bridge Sports Therapy and Training and works day to day as a Physiotherapist with youth, college, professional and Olympic athletes here in Edmonton.


     He currently is the Director of Sports Science for the Edmonton Stingers and University of Alberta Golden Bears Men's Soccer team and previously held the same title with FC Edmonton.  Scott is passionate about working on knees with a specialty in the treatment and prevention of ACL injuries, and helping create sport performance plans for youth athletes. 


    When he isn't working, Scott enjoys "mastering" his golf swing, wrestling with his 110lb Golden Mountain Dog and eating great food.



  • MADELINE HERBERS

    Madeline is a Sports Performance Registered Dietitian and the Team Dietitian for the Edmonton Stingers. She has worked with professional and varsity teams across Edmonton, including the Edmonton Oil Kings, University of Alberta, MacEwan, and NAIT athletics, and is completing her postgraduate diploma in Sports Nutrition with the International Olympic Committee. 


    Madeline knows that nutrition is a game-changer. The right fuel can sharpen focus, speed recovery, and elevate performance on the court. She empowers athletes to harness the power of food, turning everyday meals into performance tools that give them a competitive edge, while instilling confidence, consistency, and a positive relationship with eating that lasts a lifetime.


  • LINDSAY PIPER

    Lindsay Piper is a former Concordia University of Edmonton basketball player (2013–2017) who continued her love of sport as a teacher, coach, fitness instructor, and women’s league player.


    She has coached at the junior high, high school, and club levels, gaining first hand insight into the many ways sport shapes athletes’ lives.
