Continuing his Basketball Career in Edmonton: Stingers Re-sign PF Brody Clarke

EDMONTON - The Edmonton Stingers have re-signed power forward Brody Clarke to a one-year contract for the 2020 CEBL season.

Clarke, 23, returns to the Stingers after completing his fifth and final season with the University of Alberta Golden BearsThe Toronto, Ont. product was selected by the Singers in the 2019 U Sports draft and went on to make an impact in his first year of professional basketball. In six games (no starts), Clarke averaged 5.7 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game and earned the first-ever CEBL U Sports Player of the Year award.

Clarke re-joined the Golden Bears for the 2019-20 Canada West season. Despite missing most of the year due to injury, Clarke returned to help lead Alberta to their fourth straight national championship appearance.

In six games (six starts), Clarke averaged 19.7 points, 8.7 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game for the Golden Bears and helped the Bears qualify for the U Sports Final 8 tournament for a fourth-straight season.

Clarke had a highly decorated career at Alberta. His name is all over the program’s record books. He finished his career, fourth on the all-time leading scoring list (1,327) in just 85 games. Clarke is the program’s all-time leader in offensive rebounds with 236 and is top 5 in several other categories, including second in rebounds (697), second in career double-doubles (27) and third in defensive rebounds (461).

“Brody is the epitome of what we envision as an Edmonton Stinger,” said Stingers head coach and GM Jermaine Small.

“He’s driven, professional and a winner dating back to high school. His rebounding, IQ and ability to score inside out immediately transfers to the pro game. I look forward to helping him prepare for which I believe will be a long professional career.”
