EDMONTON, AB – The Edmonton Stingers of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) announced Tuesday that they have re-signed power forward, Alexander Sascha Kappos, for the 2021 season.

Kappos joined the Edmonton Stingers in 2020 for the CEBL Summer Series after being selected 4th overall in the 2020 CEBL USPORTS Draft. In his first season with the Stingers, Kappos averaged 0.8 points, 0.6 rebounds, and 0.2 steals over 5 games.

“It is important to have Slim back,” said Head Coach and General Manager Jermaine Small. “We are excited about his upside and his commitment to our organization. With last summer being his first professional experience I feel that he will grow even more throughout the upcoming CEBL season.”

Following the CEBL Summer Series, Kappos signed with ASA Koroivos Amaliadas of the Greek HEBA A2 League. In Greece, Kappos averaged 7.0 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 1.0 assists in three games, earning three starting assignments.

Prior to his professional career, Kappos played five years at Dalhousie University where he had an outstanding career with the Dalhousie Tigers. Throughout his university career, Kappos managed to win four Atlantic University Sport championships and receive both silver and bronze standings at the USPORTS Men’s Final 8 Basketball Tournament. In addition, Kappos represented Canada at the 2019 FISU World University Games.

The CEBL is preparing for its third season, following the success of the 2020 CEBL Summer Series in St. Catharines, Ont., which saw a record 1.2 million viewers across Canada tune in to four days of live programming on CBC.
