Edmonton Stingers Sign Assistant Coach Brandon Brock

Coach Brock has spent years coaching all over Canada; from high school basketball in his hometown of Richmond, BC to assistant coaching roles with both the University of Waterloo and now the University of Alberta. Brock is also the technical director for Free Play For Kids (Free Footie). Free Footie's Mission is to provide vulnerable kids with the opportunity to play in a safe, accessible, and inclusive environment at no cost to them or their families—because when kids are empowered through play, their families, their schools, and their communities are empowered as well

 

Brandon received his undergraduate degree at the University of Waterloo where he spent three years as an assistant coach helping to develop the Warriors’ young core talent. During that time, he also coached a club basketball team in Kitchener to multiple top 10 rankings, as well as helped to win a Bronze Medal at the Ontario Summer Games in 2016. While in Ontario, Brandon also spent time working at Canada Basketball in their Domestic Development Department, helping to develop national youth basketball curriculum.

 

The CEBL is preparing for its third season in 2021, following the success of the 2020 CEBL Summer Series in St. Catharines, Ontario; which saw a record 1.2 million viewers across Canada tune in to four days of live programming on CBC.

A league created by Canadians for Canadians, the CEBL has the highest percentage of Canadian players of any professional league in the country, with 80% of its current rosters being Canadians. Players come from the NBA G-League, top international leagues, the Canadian National Team program, and top NCAA programs as well as from U SPORTS. The only First Division Professional League partner of Canada Basketball, the CEBL season typically runs from May through August. More information is available at www.cebl.ca.
