The Edmonton Stingers are partnering with Viterra to launch the ‘Viterra 2022 Recipe for Wellness School Program’.

Beginning in January, the Stingers will travel to eight rural Alberta communities and their schools to promote healthy living through the game of basketball by hosting clinics for students to learn the game at the grassroots level.  The program will focus on areas such as fitness and exercise, healthy eating, and mental health.

"The Edmonton Stingers and the CEBL are all about bringing Canadians together. We are beyond excited to be a partner with a great community builder like Viterra. We look forward to bringing our passion for basketball to these great Northern Alberta centers in 2022,” said Stingers president Reed Clarke.

“We’re pleased to be partnering with the Edmonton Stingers on this wellness initiative that promotes healthy living as well as other skills associated with organized sports,” said Kyle Jeworski, Viterra’s CEO for North America.  “The values of teamwork, dedication and hard work taught through programs like these will benefit students for many years to come.”

The Stingers will be visiting the communities of Acheson, Camrose, Killam, Star, Stettler, Trochu, Vegreville, and Vermillion, communities in which Viterra has a long history.

“Basketball is the second fastest growing sport in the world. Its unique blend of athleticism, pop culture and accessibility has seen the sport explode globally, and

Canada is no exception. To further grow the game we love, there needs to be more opportunity – both for players to showcase their skills in communities across the country, and for fans of all ages to celebrate their passion for basketball, said Clarke.”
