Jordan Baker, Travis Daniels and Xavier Moon become All-CEBL team players for second-straight year

EDMONTON — The 2020 CEBL champions, Edmonton Stingers, have landed power forwards, Jordan Baker, Travis Daniels and point guard Xavier Moon to the All-CEBL First team as announced by the Canadian Elite Basketball League on Friday.

This is the second-straight year that both Moon and Baker were named All-CEBL team players.

Baker played all eight games in the CEBL Summer Series, averaging 12.2 points, 9.4 rebounds, 1.3 steals, 3.8 assists, and 28.3 minutes. The former University of Alberta Golden Bear led the league in rebounds per game for the second year in a row. He also ranked first in the league in 2-point field goal percentage (61.1%), fifth in field goal percentage (.567) and fifth in assists (3.8). The 2020 CEBL Canadian Of The Year winner also hit back-to-back game-winning shots in Elam Ending time during the Summer Series against the Niagara River Lions and Saskatchewan Rattlers.

Daniels averaged 12.6 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.5 blocks per game. He led the CEBL in blocks per game. Daniels also hit the game-winning three-pointer in Elam Ending time in Edmonton’s 85-71 win over the Guelph Nighthawks.

Moon averaged 19.5 points, 4.5 assists, four rebounds and 1.8 steals per game for the Stingers this year. The 2019 CEBL Player of The Year and 2020 Finals MVP led the league in assists, finished second in league scoring, ranked fifth in steals and fourth in three-pointers made (19). The Goodwater, Al product also hit the game-winning free throws in Elam Ending time to clinch the Stingers first-ever CEBL Championship title with a 90-73 win over the Fraser Valley Bandits on Aug.9.

The CEBL Summer Series tipped off July 25 and became the first professional sports league in Canada to return to play since the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus in mid-March shut down sports across the country. Games were televised live nationally on CBC, the CBC Gem App, and on cbcports.ca. They were carried to more than 130 million people internationally thanks to distribution agreements secured in Australia, Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, and Taiwan by MEDIAPRO Canada, the international media rights and production partner of the CEBL. All Summer Series games were also livestreamed on Twitch.

A league created by Canadians for Canadians, the CEBL has the highest percentage of Canadian players of any professional league in the country, with 80% of its current rosters being Canadians. Players come from the NBA G-League, top international leagues, the Canadian National Team program, and top NCAA programs as well as from U SPORTS. The only First Division Professional League partner of Canada Basketball, the CEBL season typically runs from May through August. More information is available at www.cebl.ca
