EDMONTON, AB - The Edmonton Stingers of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) announced Thursday the signing of 6’8 English forward Jordan Williams to their 2023 roster. Williams, an 8-year professional, has also represented Great Britain twice in the FIBA World Cup Qualifiers.
Beginning his professional career in the British Basketball League (BBL) with the Surrey Scorchers in 2015-16. He spent three full seasons there before signing with Giessen II of the Germany ProB league in the 2018-19 season. After 18 games with the club, he returned to the Scorchers for the remainder of the season where he averaged 11.0 points per game across 9 matchups.
Williams spent the next two seasons in the BBL as a member of the Worcester Wolves before joining the London Lions in 2021-22 where he played 5 games in the FIBA Europe Cup, scoring 6.6 points per game in 5 appearances. That same year, Williams would suit up for Great Britain’s national team in a FIBA World Cup Qualifiers matchup against Greece. He would return to the national team roster the following year, appearing in 4 games from late 2022 to early 2023 posting an international best 7 points in 22 minutes against Serbia.
Williams recently wrapped up his professional season splitting time between Prienai of the Lithuanian LKL and Hubner NBS of the Hungarian A-League, averaging 8.5 points per game between his two teams. Williams brings length and athleticism to the Stingers frontcourt as they wrap up their regular season.
The Stingers (8-9) are in a tight race for playoff home-court advantage with the Calgary Surge (8-8) and Saskatchewan Rattlers (8-10). All CEBL games are available online through CEBL+ powered by BetVictor and TSN+.
