Stingers Bring on Katherine Plouffe Community Ambassador

EDMONTON, AB- The Edmonton Stingers of the CEBL have announced that former Olympian and Canadian National Team player Katherine Plouffe has been signed as an official Community Ambassador. The Edmonton native Plouffe and the Stingers will partner to bring continued growth and accessibility to basketball in Edmonton.

“I’ve enjoyed seeing the Stingers grow to be a part of the Edmonton community as they look to add value to people in and out of basketball," said Plouffe. "[I'm] excited to see how they continue to lead their organization and build people up to go out and be leaders in their communities.”

Plouffe, along with her twin sister Michelle Plouffe, have hosted annual girls basketball camps in Edmonton. Over the past 7 years, the Plouffe Hoops Camps have aimed to fill a notable gap the Plouffes have identified: bringing a high-level basketball experience to girls.

Plouffe and the Stingers will aim to expand community based initiatives around the city including growing the Stingers Fresh Hoops and Basketball For All programs, running youth camps and clinics, and bringing a better basketball experience to high school, college, and university games in Edmonton.

“Katherine’s excellence at the international and professional level are something every Edmontonian can recognize and appreciate,” said Stingers president Reed Clarke. “But it is her dedication to growing Edmonton basketball that has cemented her presence in our community. The Stingers are excited to work with her to continue supporting basketball’s rapid growth in the city.”
