2021-22: Returning for his final collegiate season, Patrick Vandervelden started all 18 games (including playoffs) for the Mount Royal Cougars … Scored 8 points in MRU’s home opener against MacEwan and 10 points the next night … Grabbed 10 rebounds to go along with 3 blocks, 3 steals, and 2 assists on November 28th, 2021… Scored double digits four games in a row from January 15th, 2022 to January 22nd, 2022 … Blocked 4 shots in MRU’s first Canada West playoff game against Thompson Rivers … Finished the season averaging 8.1 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks per game. 

2020-21: COVID-19: no season

2019-20: Did not play

2018-19: Transferred to the Mount Royal University Cougars in his fourth year of eligibility … Started 17 games … Scored 17 points on Canada West regular season debut against UNBC … Had 11 rebounds on November 2nd, 2018 against MacEwan … Shot 7-10 on the next night against MacEwan scoring 15 points … Season high 17 points came in the final regular season game against Brandon … Also collected 15 rebounds that game … Averaged 10.2 points and 5.8 rebounds per game … Led Canada West in blocks with 47.

2017-18: Did not play

2016-17: Suiting up for the Spartans for the third and final time Vandervelden appeared in all 20 regular season games starting 19 of them … Put up 26 points across two games on opening weekend against UBCO … Had a career high 16 rebounds against Lethbridge on December 2nd, 2016 … Had four career-high 20 point outings on the season including back-to-back nights on December 2nd and 3rd, 2016 against Lethbridge … Had four games of double digit points from January 21st, 2017 to February 4th, 2017 … Finished the season 8th in Canada West for blocks … Averaged 12.8 points and 7.2 rebounds per game while increasing field goal shooting to 47.5%.

2015-16: In second year with the Spartans appeared in all 20 regular season games starting 8 … Had 10 rebounds against the University of Victoria on November 7th, 2015 … Reached double digit scoring for the first time against UBC on November 3rd, 2015 with 10 points … Went 6/7 from the floor against Calgary on January 23rd, 2016 to net 13 then career best points … First career double-double came against Brandon on January 30th, 2016 when he scored 11 points to go along with 11 rebounds … On the season averaged 4.5 points and 4.5 rebound per game shooting 32.7% from the floor.

2014-15: Started U Sports career with Trinity Western Spartans after graduating from Yale Secondary in Abbotsford B.C … Played in 13 games averaging 1.5 points per game as a rookie … Scored first Canada West points against the University of Alberta Golden Bears on November 7th, 2014
