2021-22: Returning for his final collegiate season, Patrick Vandervelden started all 18 games (including playoffs) for the Mount Royal Cougars … Scored 8 points in MRU’s home opener against MacEwan and 10 points the next night … Grabbed 10 rebounds to go along with 3 blocks, 3 steals, and 2 assists on November 28th, 2021… Scored double digits four games in a row from January 15th, 2022 to January 22nd, 2022 … Blocked 4 shots in MRU’s first Canada West playoff game against Thompson Rivers … Finished the season averaging 8.1 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks per game.

2016-17: Suiting up for the Spartans for the third and final time Vandervelden appeared in all 20 regular season games starting 19 of them … Put up 26 points across two games on opening weekend against UBCO … Had a career high 16 rebounds against Lethbridge on December 2nd, 2016 … Had four career-high 20 point outings on the season including back-to-back nights on December 2nd and 3rd, 2016 against Lethbridge … Had four games of double digit points from January 21st, 2017 to February 4th, 2017 … Finished the season 8th in Canada West for blocks … Averaged 12.8 points and 7.2 rebounds per game while increasing field goal shooting to 47.5%.
