Stingers bring in NCAA guard for the 2026 season

Edmonton inks former NCAA Guard Samage Teel

EDMONTON, AB - The Edmonton Stingers of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) announced the signing of guard Samage Teel for the 2026 season. Teel, a former NCAA Division I athlete at Indiana State is joining the team for his debut season in the CEBL.


Head Coach Jordan Baker anticipates an exciting season for Teel and had this to say about the rookie signing, “Samage is an extremely talented young player. His ability to control the pace of the game and get his teammates involved will serve him well this summer. We are excited to see him lead our backcourt in 2026 and expect big things from such a diligent worker.”


Teel is joining the Stingers after a season spent overseas with two teams. Teel appeared in 5 games for M. Rehovot in Israel, posting averages of 9.4 points, 3.8 assists and 2.6 rebounds. Teel also appeared in 10 games for Finnish club Lahti Basketball while averaging 13.1 points, 4.5 assists per game, 3.7 rebounds per game in 29.9 minutes of action a night.

Teel’s collegiate career was punctuated by a stellar senior season in which he was named to the NABC Great Lakes District Second Team, MVC All Conference First Team and MVC All-Newcomer Team as well as winning MVC Newcomer of the Week four separate times. On his way to these accolades Teel posted averages of 16.9 points, 5.2 assists and 4.1 rebounds a game in 34 minutes a game. Samage’s career performance included a career high 36 points against Illinois State while knocking down 6 threes. He also scored 20+ points in 15 games. Before transferring to Indiana State, Teel spent three seasons at Winston-Salem University averaging 13.6 points, 2.7 assists and 2.6 rebounds per game as a junior in the 2023/24 season.

Teel is a native of Greenville, North Carolina and attended Farmville Central high school before

graduating in 2020. Teel began his collegiate career close to home at Winston-Salem University before transferring to Indiana State.
