Stingers Sign Veteran Guard Raijon Kelly
EDMONTON, AB - The Edmonton Stingers of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) announced Thursday the signing of 6’3” guard Raijon Kelly. Kelly, a graduate of Samford, has played 8 seasons professionally.
Kelly recently completed his fourth straight season in the French LNB Pro B as a member of Etoile Angers and Boulazac Dordogne, playing in 18 games between the two clubs and averaging 12.7 points per game. The St. Paul native has also played professionally in Switzerland, Poland, and Lithuania.
During his three year career at Samford, Kelly averaged 11.2 points and 3.2 assists per game in 95 games. In his sophomore season he put up a career best 14.1 points per game on 40% 3-point shooting. That year, he scored a career best 27 points in a regular season matchup against Chattanooga.
Kelly joins the backcourt of Isiah Osborne, Geoffrey James, Elijah Miller, and Adika Peter-McNeilly along with recent addition Rudi Williams.
The Stingers take on Scarborough tonight in the first of three straight road games before returning to Edmonton June 29.
