EDMONTON – The Edmonton Stingers Basketball Club announced Wednesday that they have launched Stingers Gaming; the official eSports sub-brand for The Edmonton Stingers of the Canadian Elite Basketball League. The Edmonton Stingers are the first professional sports team in Edmonton and the first team in the Canadian Elite Basketball League to launch an official eSports sub-brand. Stingers Gaming aims to foster the growth of an inclusive eSports community within the Greater Edmonton Area, effectively bridging the gap between the world of professional basketball and the ever-growing community of gamers.

“Much like the game of basketball, eSports is on the global rise and this program makes sense to Edmonton as a global market,” said Stingers President Brett, Fraser.

To do so, Stingers Gaming has engaged in a partnership with the Alberta Esports Association. With the guidance of the AESA, Stingers Gaming will facilitate engaging events, build strong communities, and work with the most impressive players within Alberta. This guidance will allow Stingers Gaming to engage with and grow the gaming community through eSports tournaments, events, and activities throughout the 2021 CEBL Season.

Most importantly, the launch of Stingers Gaming will further diversify the entertainment offered within the Greater Edmonton Area; especially as the Edmonton Stingers look forward to the 2021 Season where they aim to create an exciting entertainment experiences following their championship victory in the 2020 CEBL Summer Series.

“Edmonton loves eSports. First, we are going to bring it to your home and then bring you to our home for the live version,” said Fraser.
