Edmonton Stingers Establish Charitable Foundation

Stingers Entertainment Group announced today that it was establishing a charitable foundation to bring the power of sports and the universal appeal of basketball to work in our community twelve months a year.

The Stingers Foundation will be Chaired by Marcie Kiziak, CEO of Edmonton-based Nova Cannabis Inc. Marcie has a long history of community involvement including serving on the boards of Little Warriors, The Safety Codes Council, The Edmonton Citadel and The Chartered Professionals in Human Resources of Alberta. Rooted in Alberta, Marcie brings her energy and community focus to The Stingers Foundation.

"I am honoured and excited by the opportunity to build a foundation that operates all year long during and outside the Stingers summer season.” Said Ms. Kiziak. “Our focus is to use the influence of the Edmonton Stingers to make basketball and sports accessible to anyone who wants to attend, participate and thrive in local sports and beyond. We know that sports may not be within reach of all Edmontonians and we want to help to change that."

"Going forward the Stingers will be selecting sponsorship partners based on their commitment to the Stingers Foundation and year-round interest in our community."

Reed Clarke, CEO of Stingers Entertainment Group announced today that The Stingers Foundation has purchased 350 season tickets for Stingers games for each of the 10 home games for the 2023 season - with those tickets being earmarked for charitable organisations such as Kids Up Front and Boys & Girls Clubs Big Brothers Big Sisters (BGCBigs) to give kids the experience of attending an exciting live sporting event who otherwise might not be able to attend.

The Foundation's objective is to have a board of 8 -10 Edmontonians who represent all of our diverse communities. The nominees to the board of directors and the first Executive Director of The Stingers Foundation will be announced in the coming weeks.
