Stingers announce Player Option List for 2020 season
EDMONTON
- The Edmonton Stingers are pleased to announce the
following players have signed their player option letter with the team for the
2020 Canadian Elite Basketball League season.
This option will allow the team, a protected window to sign these players from
the end of the current CEBL season until midnight on March 1, 2020, without any
other CEBL club interference.
Forward Jordan Baker
, forward Travis Daniels
, guard Mathieu Kamba
, point guard Xavier Moon
, forward Zac Overwater
and point guard Adika Peter-McNeilly
have signed their
option letters.
“We’re really looking forward to bringing the core back,” said Stingers general
manager and head coach Jermaine Small
.
“I feel we will hit the ground running and not lose a step. We will continue to
play an exciting brand of basketball and defend the best home court advantage
in the league.”

The local product and former
University of Alberta Golden Bear had a standout season in his first year with
the Stingers. In 17 games this season, Baker averaged 13.9 points and 9.1
rebounds per game and was team captain. Baker led the CEBL in rebounding and
was the CEBL Finalist for Canadian Player of the Year and a CEBL second-team
all-star.
Baker is part of Team Edmonton and the 3X3 Challenger World Circuit and is an
assistant coach with the Golden Bears.
Travis Daniels

The former Mississippi State
Bulldog made an immediate impact at both ends of the floor after joining the
Stingers in late May.
In 17 games (14 starts),
Daniels averaged 18.2 points and 8.1 rebounds per game. Daniels showed an
ability to stretch the floor and was among the top three-point shooters in the
CEBL.
The 27-year-old was a dominant force for the Stingers and was named a CEBL
first-team all-star.
Daniels has signed to play in Greece this off-season with Kolossos Rodou BC in
the Greek HEBAA1 League.
Mathieu Kamba

The product of Calgary and
Central Arkansas alum enjoyed a breakthrough season with the Stingers. In 17
games (11 starts), Kamba averaged 7.7 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.8 assists for
Edmonton.
This off-season, Kamba is playing his second-straight season of professional
basketball in Spain.
Xavier Moon

The Goodwater, Ala product
played a major role in his first season with the Stingers. Moon captured CEBL
Player of the Year honours after leading the league in scoring, averaging 19.3
points per game. Moon finished second in the league in assists per game (5.7),
second in steals (2.2) and third in 3-point percentage (43.5) in 12 games.
Moon recently had a tryout with the Raptors 905 of the NBA G-League.

The former University of Lethbridge
Pronghorns star spent his first professional season with the Stingers split
between the practice roster and active roster.
Overwater played eight games with the Stingers this season. In limited action,
Overwater averaged 1 point and 1 rebound per game.
Adika Peter-McNeilly

Position: PG
BIO: Adika Peter-McNeilly joined the Stingers in late May after playing professionally in Germany and made a big impact on the court and with his leadership. In 17 games (three starts), Peter-McNeilly averaged 12 points, 3.4 assists and 3 rebounds per game. The former Ryerson Ram played a pivotal role off the bench for the Stingers with his scoring and defence.
