Stingers announce launch of Fresh Hoops Program with inaugural partner, KV Capital

EDMONTON, AB- The Edmonton Stingers of the CEBL have announced the launch of their Fresh Hoops Program aimed at refurbishing outdoor basketball courts this summer. Their inaugural launching partner will be KV Capital, who has made a charitable donation to the program.

“Our Fresh Hoops program is all about giving new life to YEG courts that need it the most,” said Stingers President and Fresh Hoops founder Reed Clarke. “What makes basketball great is how accessible the sport is to everyone. Refreshing these outdoor courts will invite so many more kids of all ages to pick up the game & share the space with their family, friends and community.”

The Fresh Hoops Program will target school courts based on a number of factors as decided upon by the Edmonton Public Schools Foundation. Funds contributed by partners will be channeled directly into a fund overseen by EPSBF and allocated solely to the refurbishment of outdoor basketball courts. Key areas to be addressed include basketball backboards, poles, mesh netting, and paint.

Partners have the chance to get involved with this community initiative by contacting the Stingers directly at info@thestingers.ca. Donations of all sizes will be accepted and the Stingers will create a refurbishment plan in collaboration with EPSB and the partner. Partners can also expect recognition from the Stingers through various digital, in-arena, and oncourt branding opportunities.

“Outdoor basketball courts at our schools are integral community spaces that promote teamwork, participation and contribute to a student’s social, physical and mental health,” said Edmonton Public Schools Foundation Director Kyla Amrhein. “With the high demand of these spaces and Edmonton's harsh climate, there really is no end to the maintenance cycle and need for updates. Through their Fresh Hoops initiative, the Stingers are refreshing these spaces and giving an incredible gift not only to our students, but to the many communities that these courts serve.”

“It's great to see what started as just a simple idea is now close to becoming a reality,” said Clarke. “We are thrilled to get this initiative off the ground with the support from EPSB Foundation and our founding sponsor KV Capital."

The first school court to receive a refurbishment will be John D. Bracco Junior High School, which will be unveiled on May 26th at 12:00 p.m. The Stingers, as well as students of John D. Bracco, will be in attendance on May 26th from 12:00pm-12:45pm to celebrate the completion of the court refurbishment. All members of the media are invited to attend the event and interview players and staff, including Stingers President Reed Clarke. The Stingers ask that any interview requests be made in advance to the Stingers Marketing Manager Alex Jap.
